1Information we collect

We collect information to run and improve the Service. The amount and type of information depends on how you use Dice and the features that are available, which may change over time. Broadly, we collect information in three ways.

Information you provide

• Account information — such as your phone number (used to create and secure your account), name, username, and profile photo.
• Date of birth — we ask for your birthday when you sign up to confirm you meet our minimum age. Other users never see it.
• Content you create or upload — photos, videos, captions, messages, comments, reactions, and other content you share through the Service.
• Purchases — records of in-app purchases and subscriptions (payments are processed by the app store, not by us; we receive confirmation and related transaction details).
• Communications — information you provide when you contact us for support or otherwise reach out to us.

Information from your device (with your permission)

• Camera-roll media — the photos and videos you choose to bring into Dice. We access your library only as needed to let you select and share media.
• Contacts — if you choose to find friends from your contacts, we use contact information (such as phone numbers) in a one-way, pseudonymized form to help match you with people you may know. Syncing contacts is optional.
• Notifications — a push token so we can send notifications you've enabled.
• Device & diagnostic data — approximate device, app, and performance information that helps us keep the Service working.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data — how you interact with the Service, including features you use and actions you take.
• Device identifiers and log data — such as device type, operating system, app version, and event logs.
• Approximate location — general location inferred from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location unless a feature clearly asks for it and you allow it.

As we add features, we may collect additional information of a similar nature. We'll update this policy when we make material changes to what we collect.

2How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service and develop new features;
• Create and secure your account and verify your identity;
• Help you connect with friends, including matching you with people you may know;
• Deliver posts, messages, notifications, and other content;
• Personalize your experience and the content and advertising you see;
• Process purchases, subscriptions, referrals, and rewards;
• Understand how the Service is used through analytics and measurement;
• Protect the safety, integrity, and security of the Service, including detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms;
• Communicate with you about the Service, including updates and support;
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

We may combine information from different parts of the Service, and use it for the purposes above and for other purposes compatible with them.

3How we share information

We share information in the following ways:

• With other users. Dice is social. Your profile, posts, and other content are shared with the people you share them with, according to how the Service works and the choices you make within it.
• With service providers. We use third parties to help us operate the Service — for example, cloud hosting, storage, messaging and notification delivery, analytics, customer support, and payment support. They process information on our behalf and are expected to protect it.
• With advertising and analytics partners. We may share limited information with partners who help us show and measure advertising and understand usage. See Advertising & analytics.
• For legal and safety reasons. We may share information when we believe it's reasonably necessary to comply with the law or legal process, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us.
• In a business transfer. If we're involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
• With your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some sharing for advertising or analytics may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under certain state laws; where that's the case, you may exercise the choices described in Your choices & rights.

4Contacts & invitations

If you choose to sync your contacts, we use that information to help you find and connect with friends. You control whether to enable this.

You may also invite other people to Dice. When you send an invitation, we may deliver it on your behalf — for example, by text message — to the people you choose to invite. You're responsible for making sure you have permission to share the contact information of people you invite. We use invitation information to send and manage invitations and to prevent duplicate or abusive messages.

Text-message notifications. If you provide your phone number, we may send you SMS text messages about your own account activity on Dice — for example, when someone challenges you or sends you a message — most often when app (push) notifications are turned off. We store your phone number to deliver these. Message and data rates may apply and message frequency varies. You can turn these texts off at any time in the app's settings, or by replying STOP to any message (reply START to opt back in, or HELP for help). Opting out of texts does not affect your ability to use Dice.

Mobile information is never shared for third-party marketing. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or your SMS/text-messaging opt-in consent with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information collected for messaging is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

5Advertising & analytics

The Service may include advertising. We and our advertising and analytics partners may use information about your use of the Service and your device to select, deliver, and measure ads, which may include interest-based (personalized) advertising.

You can limit interest-based advertising through your device settings — for example, the advertising and tracking controls provided by your device's operating system. We also use analytics to understand how the Service performs and how it's used.

6Your choices & rights

• Access & update. You can review and update much of your account information directly in the app.
• Delete your account. You can delete your account in the app. When you do, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we need to keep it for legal, security, or legitimate business reasons.
• Permissions. You can control access to your contacts, photos, notifications, and similar permissions through your device settings.
• Notifications. You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information — such as the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it, to object to or restrict certain processing, or to opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising. To make a request, contact us at willem@daze.nyc. We'll respond as required by applicable law, and we won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may be asked to verify your identity before we act on a request.

7Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for the purposes described in this policy — for example, to maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When we no longer need information, we delete it or de-identify it.

8Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

9Children

Dice is not intended for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at willem@daze.nyc and we'll take steps to delete it. Some regions require a higher minimum age; where that's the case, you must meet the higher age to use the Service.

10International users

We operate in the United States, and information we collect may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on this site. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
